On Friday 17th May the Saffron Business Forum hosted their annual fundraising luncheon event in the Crowne Plaza Belfast, kindly supported by Tughans. Following two very memorable events in 2017 and 2018 featuring special guests AP McCoy and Henry Shefflin – the 2019 event had a lot to live up to.
Guests weren’t disappointed as the day was packed with spectacular entertainment, great food and drink, inspirational speeches and most importantly a success in raising awareness for the promotion of Gaelic games in Antrim.
This year the guest speaker for the event was Tyrone GAA legend and current Sky Sports Analyst Peter Canavan. Peter Canavan is a former Irish Gaelic football player, manager and pundit for Tyrone. He is considered one of the great players of the last twenty years by commentators such as John Haughey of the BBC. In 2009, he was named in the Sunday Tribune’s list of the 125 Most Influential People in GAA History. Peter sat alongside Antrim GAA Chairman Ciarán McCavana at the event.
Guest were treated to a variety of entertainment which included live music from Runabay, dancing from The Maginn School of Irish Dancing, a raffle and a charity auction with some outstanding prizes; including tickets to see the All Ireland Hurling and Football Senior finals and corporate tickets for the Open at Royal Portrush in July.
Every detail of the event was meticulously planned by the MCE Events team. They worked tirelessly to ensure the sell-out lunch, with over 500 people in attendance on the day, improved upon the high standard set in previous years.
