Enterprise Northern Ireland has today launched a new initiative called Enterprise Champions that will see them work with local MLAs from each main political party to champion the enterprise, microenterprise and small business sectors.

The new initiative reflects Enterprise Northern Ireland’s commitment to supporting sectors which make up the backbone of the Northern Ireland economy, which drives economic recovery. Champions have been selected from MLAs sitting on the Economy Committee.

Recently, the Economy Committee highlighted the importance of small businesses to the Northern Ireland economy, with more than 99% of our private sector businesses being SMEs.

Gordon Gough, Chief Executive of Enterprise NI said: “We see this as an opportunity to have the special contribution of entrepreneurs, microenterprises and small businesses put at the heart of policy development. We welcome the input of our Champions in helping us promote entrepreneurship and push for more pro-enterprise business policies.

“We believe this to be a mutually beneficial relationships with local MLAs, sharing knowledge and expertise which in turn will help us work with the Minister to further develop policies.”
