An exciting new restaurant has opened in the heart of Belfast’s vibrant Titanic Quarter, adding to the growing hospitality, retail and leisure offering in the area and creating ten new jobs.
Rain Check, which is in Arc Retail, has been opened by Andy Davis and Graham Johnston. The duo already have a presence in the complex through their joint ownership of the neighbouring Spar store and the new restaurant represents the completion of a total investment of £800,000 in the area across both units.
Customers can enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner in the 42-seat, licenced restaurant, with magnificent views of the Abercorn Basin and the vibrancy of the Waterfront Walkway.
ARC Retail is prominently located below the ARC apartments which are home to over 1,000 residents, and adjacent to the SSE Arena, Belfast, Citigroup, Belfast Met and the world’s leading tourist attraction, Titanic Belfast. Titanic Quarter and The SSE Arena, Belfast’s annual visitor numbers are in excess of 3.5m, while 18,000 people work, stay, study, live or play in the area on a daily basis.
Late last year Andrew and Graham doubled the size of their existing Spar store to 7,000 sq ft, offering the very latest innovations in convenience retailing.
The additions included a sit-in area for customers to enjoy their Barista Bar treats, a Green Deli breakfast and lunch, an off-sales, post office, a wide range of everyday essentials and the best of locally sourced produce.
James Eyre, commercial director of Titanic Quarter, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Rain Check to the ARC Retail and wish Andrew and Graham every success with their new venture. Titanic Quarter’s growing number of residents, workers, students and tourists have made the ARC Retail a destination of choice and we will see further retail businesses opening here in the very near future.”
Graham Johnston, owner of Rain Check said:
“We have been operating our convenience store business in the ARC Retail for over four years servicing a mix of customers; from people who work, study and live in Titanic Quarter, to tourists, concert and event goers. We embraced the opportunity to diversify our offer even further with our restaurant, Rain Check, providing a delicious and varied menu, a relaxed atmosphere and great waterfront views.
“Our chef is Caribbean, so we have a real mix of local and international dishes. We offer a wide range of gluten free and vegan options catering for all dietary requirements. We have been delighted with the support we have received from our customers in our opening week, and online reviews have been fantastic.”
